The 10 most Dangerous Cities In The World

Not all cities in the world are safer to visit. Due to regular terrorism and drug trafficking, few cities became dangerous places to visit. Economically, these are cities which are struggling for decades and some people struggle to get ahead. So, they often turn to crime and violence to make things work. This is the list of top 10 dangerous cities in the world.

1.) Kabul, Afghanistan:

Due to violence, shooting and terrorist attacks, Kabul  became one of the most dangerous cities in the world. The struggle between the local governments and terrorists have created a hostile environment in which any attacks can happen at any time. Since it was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1979 to the present day have ravaged the city’s sprawling neighbourhoods that are now home to 3.2 million people.

2.) Mogadishu, Somalia:

 In Mogadishu, Somalia, a strive was going on between the Ethiopian and Somali government troops, as well as with the Islamic guerrillas. Mogadishu was undisputedly the world’s most dangerous city.
So many people are injured daily, and hospitals are overcrowded with the patients.  Those who choose to remain in Mogadishu, Somalia have ended up in the city’s sprawling refugee camps in 2008, nearly half of the population abandoned the city, and many of the streets had turned into the group of bombed-out buildings. In 2009, there was a rise of violence and suicide bombings.


3.) Ciudad Juarez, Mexico:

Mexico is the one of the drug havens and the Ciudad Juarez city is its unofficial capital. Drug traffickers are violent and do pretty much whatever they want. The worst part, many crimes go unsolved because the police could care less. Ciudad Juarez, Mexico became one of the most dangerous cities in the world.

4.) Baghdad, Iraq:

Being the world’s most dangerous place for years, Baghdad has calmed down just a bit after the invasion of US. After the withdrawal of military forces from Iraq, Baghdad suffers from a very unstable political climate. Bombings and counter bombings had destroyed most of the city’s infrastructure. Intermittent suicide bombings, roadside bombs and random gunfire continue to wreak havoc on the hapless citizens of the city.

5.) Caracas, Venezuela:

Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, became the drug trafficking haven. For Robbery and petty crimes, Caracas is commonplace with police having very little will to control the situation.

6.) Abidjan, Ivory Coast:

Mindless violence between warring factions did Abidjan, the dangerous city. After few years, the security situation in Abidjan has somewhat improved. The arrest of former president Laurent Gbagbo and ceding of power to duly elected President Alassane Ouattara was the turning point. Still, with tension simmering below the surface of the city, Abidjan, the city of Ivory Coast continues to be a dangerous place.

7.) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:

Rio de Janeiro is the one the dangerous city in Brazil, but high crime rates are extremely common in many Brazilian cities. Behind the glitz and beauty, there exists danger for travelers. However, Rio remains the most popular destination city in Brazil and sees a massive inrush of tourists all year long, but especially during Carnivale. Ten years ago Rio might have been First on this list. Today it’s safer than it once was, but street crime is more problematic. Robberies and violence are common, especially at night and on the beaches with a busy crowd.


8.) Cape Town, South Africa:

Cape Town is also a city  that is battling extremely high crime rates. Cape Town is the one of the most popular tourist places in the world. Prone to mugging and became one of the most unsafe cities at night, especially for women. The high level crime is attributed to the disparity between socioeconomic classes.

9.) San Pedro Sula, Honduras:

San Pedro Sula has numerously appeared on lists featuring the world’s most dangerous cities for several years. The city suffers from problems with drug cartels, economic divide, and weapon trafficking. Illegal arms dealing has led to armed gangs and results a heavy increase in murders. San Pedro Sula is believed to have the highest murder rate in the world. Many of those are killed by armed gang members, shooting it out in the city streets.

10.) Peshawar, Pakistan:

Peshawar is the frontier city of Pakistan and is the one of the most dangerous places in the world. Suicide bombings and attacks on military forces being the norm, Peshawar is slowly sinking into the chasm. With warlords and tribes fighting for supremacy, the city is very unsafe, especially for foreigners. 
These are the 10 most Dangerous cities in the world. If you  decided to visit such places, you should, at least, be aware of the risks and take sensible precautions.
